Departure from Bucharest by car, coach or bus (depending on the number of persons) towards Tirgu Jiu via Pitesti Ramnicu Valcea. Of highest importance for Tirgu-Jiu are Constantin Brancusi, the great sculptor's works. The sculpture group consisting of “Infinite pillar”, “The Silence Table” and “The Kiss Gate”.

In addition to the sculpture ensemble created by Constantin Brancusi during the period 1936-1938, one can admire in Tirgu Jiu the Merchants' Church (the Princely Cathedral) built over 1748-1764, on the place of a wooden church, the “Saint Apostles, Peter and Paul” which was built over 1746-1747; the sculptural ensemble consisting of the “Assumption of the Virgin” Church (1694-1700), and the house of Mayor Cornea Brailoiu (1699-1710), the house of the Bread Purveyor to the Prince, Dimitrie Maldarescu (1710) and the house of Purveyor Barbu Ganescu (18th century, where Constantin Brancusi had lived while creating the ensemble consisting of “Infinite pillar”, “the Silence Table” and “the Kiss Gate”.
